Mark Demaree Promoted to Director of Preconstruction, Charlotte

April 20, 2026

In construction, the decisions that matter most are often made before a single shovel hits the ground. Preconstruction is where the scope gets defined, budgets get stress-tested, and the gap between design intent and real-world feasibility gets closed. Done well, it sets a project up for success. Done poorly, teams spend the rest of the job recovering.

It takes experience to do it well. And Mark has spent more than three decades building that experience.

With 30 years at Choate and over 30 years in the industry, Mark has developed something that can’t be taught in a classroom: the ability to look at a project early — before costs are locked, before schedules are set — and see where the risks are hiding. His analytical approach gives owners and project teams the clarity they need to make confident decisions, and his deep understanding of cost and schedule alignment means those decisions hold up all the way through construction.

That kind of expertise is what preconstruction is built on. And it’s exactly what Mark brings to every project he touches.

We’re proud to celebrate Mark’s next step at Choate and the continued growth of our Charlotte preconstruction team. If you’re working on a project and want preconstruction thinking that actually moves the needle, you already know where to find us.
