The Choate Charlotte project team, alongside partners Crosland Southeast and Nuveen Real Estate, celebrated the start of construction on Commonwealth Mixed-Use Development with an inspirational groundbreaking ceremony. Project partners shared in the excitement of the work ahead and great work already accomplished to get this project off the ground.

After two years of efforts and research gathering community feedback, coordinating design plans, and assessing the best route for preserving the historic buildings already on the property, it was a beautiful day to kick-off construction on the development. Bobby Speir, Senior Vice President of Mixed-Use Development with Crosland Southeast shared during the ceremony, “I am proud of what our team has accomplished to date, but I am equally as excited to see the positive impact this project will have on the flourishing Plaza Midwood neighborhood and the great Charlotte region for decades to come.”

Commonwealth is designed by BB+M Architecture, Axiom Architecture, Land Design, and 505 Design. The first phase will be delivered in the Spring of 2024. Learn more about the project award here.
