Choate Superintendent Terry Lee places a bronze plaque over a time capsule buried in the wall of the John Paul II Catholic School in Bluffton, South Carolina. The dedication took place on Friday, January 24th at the school’s campus, which will serve grades 7 – 12 in the new facility.
The 28,000-SF academic building is two stories and includes nine classrooms, chapel, dedicated science labs, art room, technology lab, commons, teacher and student rooms, and media center. Multi-purpose athletic fields are also included.
The academic building is supported with load-bearing metal studs, wood floor and roof trusses, and misc. structural steel. The exterior façade consists of a combination of brick and cementitous siding, aluminum storefront and curtain wall, and metal roof panels. An aluminum cross at the building entry welcomes students, staff and visitors into the school.
